Why do we ask and why is it of interest?
Insurance company's often have a disclaimer included, that Hot Water Heaters and Tanks over 10 years are not covered. It is important to understand that we are not talking only about the replacement cost for the Hot Water Tank when it breaks down. We are talking about the potential thousands of dollars needed for clean up, restoration and reconstruction in the event that your Hot Water Tank leaks or bursts. Some Insurance policies will cover Hot Water Tanks that are over 10 years of age but might stipulate a higher deductible for claims.
Check with your Insurer to find out the age limits and deductibles on your home or tenant Insurance Policy to be on the safe side.
